Many “ordinary” brides hire a makeup artist on their wedding day, so it would be expected that princess-to-be Kate Middleton would have a professional do her makeup for the Royal Wedding. Middleton, however, has opted to do her own makeup on the big day and reportedly feels “comfortable and confident” about doing it herself.
Wedding planner Mark Niemierko says that Middleton has taken a series of private lessons with London makeup artist Arabella Preston in preparation for the wedding.
“I heard that Arabella Preston was called in by a mutual friend of hers and Kate’s,” Niemierko says. “She’s had about three or four lessons with Kate at her private flat in Chelsea and has also gone, very privately to Clarence House. Arabella was suppose to be coming on the day as well but now she isn’t, because Kate’s comfortable and confident in doing it herself.”
Middleton has been said to be unhappy with professional makeup artists’ work in the past. She reportedly wiped off the makeup that had been professionally applied for the official engagement photos and reapplied the makeup herself before the photo shoot began.
Although Niemierko acknowledges Middleton’s need for normalcy on this crazy day, he does caution: “From my experience brides should look like a glamorous version of themselves on their wedding day. If you have your hair up normally, have your hair up. But, having said that, even if you’re going for a natural, no makeup look, you need quite a lot of product – especially for the photos.”
Kate always looks great, so she will likely do a phenomenal job on her makeup. We can’t wait to see how stunning she looks on the big day!
