Il Volo, an Italian teen group who’s self-titled debut album became available in the U.S. last week, thanked all of their fans for their support.
The group formed in 2009 after Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca appeared on the popular Italian talent show Ti Lascio Una Canzone, dazzling viewers with their flawless rendition of “O Sole Mio.” The boys then named their new group “Il Volo,” meaning “flight,” chosen to signify the feeling that these three young tenors were about to spread their wings and fly.
Their Italian debut, released in November 2010, was certified platinum in less than three months with no radio or video airplay and only a few television performances.
