Jeff Conaway, who is best known for his roles in the 70′s movie Grease and TV show Taxi, died Friday, May 27, 2011.
The troubled actor was taken off life support Thursday afternoon. Conway was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital last week for what appeared to be a drug overdose. He had been in a medically induced coma in critical condition after he was found unconscious.
“Jeff was taken off life-support [Thursday] afternoon,” his manager, Phil Brock, told People. “His family chose to take him off of life-support based on advice from physicians. They thought for several days that the situation was hopeless.”
Conaway died at 10:30 a.m. at a Los Angeles-area hospital. He was surrounded by his sisters, nieces and nephews, Brock says.
