The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ Taylor Armstrong’s estranged husband, Russell Armstrong, committed suicide on Monday, August 15, 2011.
Russell, 47, “was found dead from an apparent hanging in a residence on Mulholland Drive,” a spokesperson for the LAPD said.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said “The Los Angeles Fire Department did respond to a home on …Mulholland Drive last night at 8:08 pm.”
Taylor, 40, filed for divorce on July 15 from Russell, citing physical and verbal abuse. Taylor and Russell have a 5-year-old daughter, Kennedy, together.
According to Los Angeles Coroner Assistant Chief Ed Winter, Armstrong was pronounced dead by paramedics at 8:16 p.m. “There was no suicide note found,” Winter tells People. “An autopsy and toxicology test are pending.”
Fellow Housewives and others in the Bravo community are devastated and are expressing their symphathy.
A spokesperson for Bravo said in a statement: “All of us at Bravo are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Our sympathy and thoughts are with the Armstrong family at this difficult time.”
Armstrong’s close friend and Housewives castmate Adrienne Maloof tweeted: “My heart goes out to Taylor Armstrong and Kennedy during this devastating time. You will be in my thoughts and in prayers.”
“I am so very sad about today’s news,” Bravo’s Andy Cohen tweeted. “My prayers and thoughts are with Taylor Armstrong and her family.
