Doctor Conrad Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter on November 7, 2011 for the death of Michael Jackson.
The jury deliberated for 10 hours before reaching a guilty verdict. Dr. Murray was handcuffed and led out of the courtroom. He will be held without bail until his sentencing.
“This is a crime where the end result was the death of a human being,” Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor explained. “That factor demonstrates rather dramatically that the public should be protected.”
Dr. Murray’s sentencing will take place on November 29 where he could receive probation or up to four years in prison.
Jackson’s family was very pleased with the verdict.
“He was in that courtroom and that’s why victory was served,” Jackson’s sister La Toya told CNN’s Headline News while leaving through courthouse today.
Jackson’s other sister Rebbie said, “I’m just happy it’s over with. Nothing will bring him back, but I’m just happy (Murray) was found guilty.”
