Scotty we love you in this “Water Tower Town” of Beaumont, Kansas. We just listened to you sing the ( our ) song….We have an original 1885 Frisco built wooden water tower that the railroad used to service the steam locomotives that came through. Beaumont was a large cattle shipping station for the railroad. Cattlemen from many other states would ship their cattle in to pasture on the bountiful bluestem grass where they would have great weight gain during the season.
The water tower is on the State and National Register of Historic Sites. We preserved the tower in 1998 and it has won many awards and Honorable Mentions. The HABS documentation in placed in the Library of Congress in Washington, DC.
We lost the depot many years ago..our community serves 4 townships of ranches and farms. We need a community building so we are going to recreate the depot at the place in which it once stood for a community bldg. to continue the history of the railroad in Beaumont Ks.
We are planning our 3rd Beaumont Cowboy Classic Pasture Golf Tournament on a beautiful 1800′s ranch August 25th, 2012 to raise funds for the bldg. We have players that came from 8 states and Australia last year to play. We have a huge BBQ and entertainment and wagon tours of the homesteads on the ranch in the Flint Hills.
I would love to send you a photo of the tower we have for you to use with the Water Tower song. It is made from cypress wood..legs and tank..held 50,000 gallons of water when in use. You will be amazed.
I am documenting history of the older generations of Beaumont on a DVD.. Would it be possible for us to use the water tower song for back ground ? Funds from the DVD go into a foundation for up-keep for the historic towers future.
Thank you so much for your time, I really appreciate it.
If you would send me your address I would send you the information if you would like. We are a 501-c3 organization.
    Sincerely,
    Marce Brewer, Pres.
