After getting arrested Saturday night for domestic violence, Chad Johnson’s contract with the Miami Dolphins has reportedly been terminated and his VH1 television series, Ev and Ocho, has been cancelled.
VH1 announced today that they were cancelling of the reality show starring Johnson, who used to go by Chad Ochocinco, and his new wife, Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada.
“Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series Ev and Ocho from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it,” VH1 said in a statement Monday.
Police said Johnson, 34, head-butted his newlywed wife, Lozada, in the forehead during an argument Saturday night. Lozada was treated at the scene for a “pretty good-sized” laceration and she later was taken to the hospital.
The Dolphins announced Sunday on their website that they had terminated the contract of Johnson, who played a preseason game on Friday but had not participated in a regular season game with the team.
Eleven episodes of Ev and Ocho, which documented the couple’s engagement and wedding, were taped this year, including a two-part season finale. The first episode was scheduled air September 3 on VH1.
