Former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chad Johnson (formerly known as Ochocinco) and his wife of just 2 months, Evelyn Lozada, are officially divorced today.
“Evelyn and Mr. Johnson were divorced this morning in an uncontested final hearing,” Lozada’s lawyer Michael Gilden said. “My client is a single woman and looks forward to her future.”
Lozada, 36, filed for divorce last month after Johnson, 34, was arrested on domestic violence charges. Johnson allegedly head-butted Lozada in the forehead during an argument on August 11.
Right before filing for divorce last month, Lozada released a statement addressing the incident, saying, “It is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well.”
After the arrest last month, Johnson was released from the Miami Dolphins and his VH1 television series, Ev and Ocho, was cancelled.
